HydraFacial

HydraFacial does in one session what a traditional facial does in several steps: vortex cleansing, gentle exfoliation, suction-based extraction and serum infusion. There is no downtime, which is why it is often the first thing done and the thing done between stronger treatments.

What happens in a session

A handpiece delivers fluid onto the skin and simultaneously draws it off under suction, so the same pass loosens debris and removes it. The steps run in sequence: a cleanse and gentle acid exfoliation, then extraction of pores under suction rather than by manual pressure, then infusion of serums chosen for the skin.

The extraction step is the part most people notice. Suction empties congested pores without the squeezing and bruising of manual extraction, which is why congested skin tolerates this better than a traditional deep-cleansing facial.

Where it fits

It is a maintenance treatment, not a corrective one. Pigmentation, scarring and laxity need the devices built for them.

How often

Monthly suits most skin, which roughly matches the turnover cycle. Congested or oily skin sometimes benefits from a closer interval at the start. The serum selection changes according to what the skin needs at the time.

The other facials on site

HydraFacial is one of several protocol facials run at the clinic alongside SkinCeuticals medical facials, oxygen bubble treatment for congestion, and Valmont and CellCosmet rituals for dehydrated or mature skin. Which one is used is matched at consultation rather than chosen from a menu.

Questions

Questions patients ask

Is HydraFacial suitable for sensitive skin?

Generally yes. The exfoliation is gentle and the extraction is done by suction rather than manual pressure, and the serums can be selected to suit reactive skin. It is one of the more tolerable options for skin that will not take active treatment.

How often should I have a HydraFacial?

Monthly suits most skin, which roughly matches its turnover cycle. Congested or oily skin sometimes starts at a closer interval.

Is there any downtime after a HydraFacial?

None. Skin may look slightly pink for an hour and then simply looks clearer. It is frequently done the day before an event for that reason.

Will a HydraFacial clear acne?

It helps with congestion and blackheads, and it is useful alongside acne treatment. Active inflammatory acne needs medical management, and the scarring left behind needs resurfacing.

Can I have a HydraFacial after laser treatment?

Usually, once the skin has settled. The interval depends on which treatment and how the skin recovered, and is advised at the time.
